Check out these unused costume designs for Spidey from The Amazing Spider-Man

Nov. 25, 2013by: Jesse Giroux

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN has its fans and critics, but most people were pleased with Spidey's suit in Marc Webb's film. However, Andrew Garfield almost wore something very different for the film. Film Paint has released these very cool alternate costume designs for the character, and it gives us a good idea of what sort of outfits they were considering for the web-slinger before settling on the more traditional outfit Garfield wore in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.

Take a look:

While they do look pretty bad ass, I don't think they would have fit in the world Marc Webb created in his movie. The designs look like they might have been inspired by Spidey's costume from the Spider-Man 2099 comics, which is kind of cool, but once again, wouldn't have really worked for this film. Still, very interesting to see the different options Sony was looking at for Spider-Man's costume in their reboot.

You can check out Spidey in his "normal" costume in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 on May 2nd, 2014.

Wow. Apparently the only choices worse than what they used in The Amazing Spider-Man were the ones they ALMOST used in The Amazing Spider-Man. At least they fixed it for the sequel. I hated the yellow eyes and long, lean torso.

Nope, this is not 2099...

Good, they didn't use the 2099 suits.

The first pic is heavily inspired by Spider-Man 2099. The last pic is definitely an ironic Deadpool ripoff.

Such arrogance.

It's a real simple costume to get right. Doing things differently is just all about ego.

1 more thing

These are great costume ideas but should only really be used as a secondary costume of sorts....like if Sony and Disney finally come together for some kind of deal and Fury gave Spiderman one of these to fight say....VENOM or something. That's where it'll work....and only to be used very sparingly

damn....2099

WOW...really great costumes. I think Spiderman 2099 could take some serious notes here. I mean that spiderman 2099 costume was just plain awful..

dont like these very much. so far the costume that i seen for the upcoming spiderman movie is probably the best. I like the big eye look over the triangle eyes.

I still can't understand why raimi went with those eyes in his 3 movies....they had no appeal whats so ever..or style for that matter. They were and still look terrible imo.

The designs are nice for an older more steady Parker but not for some kid with an allowance. Also, he needs freedom to move, not restricted parts otherwise what's the point?!

They're cool designs, but they're a little too "Dark Knight" for my taste when it comes to Spider Man. The suit in the first film was just fine.

I think that Spider-Man is a character where the less the designers try to make something different, the better it looks. It's not so much that the costume can't be re-designed ever, but the basic look works so well. Armour and rigid sections seem to de-emphasize the agility of the character.

That'd be cool if Marc put in the underarm webs in The Amazing Spider-man 2.

These are cool, specifically the first. But this might be a stupid question, these are just drawings right? Not ppl in physical costumes?

Yeah, I agree they look in line with Spider-Man 2099 design. The one used in the movie looks better.

So cool!

Love the one with the gliders under the arms. That one would have worked, I believe. Totally fresh.
