Comic Con: Check out the Bat Cowl from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Jul. 24, 2014by:

Although BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE was absent from Warner Bros' Comic Con line-up, many think there might be an announcement or presentation of some sorts for the Zack Snyder film. However, Batman will still be featured heavily at SDCC as part of the character's 75th anniversary. Warner Bros. and DC have put on display various Batman costumes for the anniversary celebration, one of which being the cape and cowl Ben Affleck will be wearing in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. DC co-publisher Dan Didio tweeted this photo from SDCC, giving us an up-close look at Affleck's Bat Cowl.

Check it out:

It isn't as blue and grey as some led us to believe, but we also can't see the full suit. It does look like the cowl is pretty stiff and doesn't allow a lot of movement for the head. In my opinion the cowl also has a more comic book feel than the ones Christian Bale wore for the Christopher Nolan films.

I'm not promising anything, but many do expect BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE to make a San Diego Comic Con appearance in Hall H on Saturday night when Warner Bros. and DC have their big reveal for their upcoming projects. Our JoBlo.com crew at SDCC is on the ground and ready to bring you all the exciting news from the event, so be sure to check back on Saturday to see if there are any new details on BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.

The costume looks pretty badass to me. I can't wait to see Affleck actually wear it!

Hoping for some blue in the rest of it. This cowl reminds me of the Adam West version. Think it's the eyebrows.

When did Batman jump the shark yet again? It was the moment Affleck put this on.

Of course Batman's neck will turn. It will turn when Superman twists it off his shoulders with an audible crack.

Love the people who look at this and go "Aaapp, no neck movement, deeerrrp" like they have seen it in motion. Cowl looks great, haters will say literally anything to knock at this movie.

So no neck movement. "Eyebrows" are cool. Kevin Smith told Neal Adams it's the cloth version like from Miller's TDKReturns. He pointed to one of the "toys" or whatever they are called. Like in the Batman/Predator fan film. This looks cool in the comics, and could look cool on screen. But it just doesn't make sense. Bats, an aged genius billionaire, has already fought tons of crime (or so we've heard), and now knows super human aliens are on the planet. I know he will still have his tools

I know he will still have his tools in belt, but why he would go up against criminals (and aliens) in cloth is ridiculous. That's one of the things I really liked ab Nolan's costumes - they made sense for someone going to fight crime and be protected and more of a weapon - I even liked the idea of the voice that speakers enhanced it to sound scarier. I'm all for the "yeah it looks like the comics," but I am a pinch skeptical. Going see it regardless of course

Relax everyone...

Synder and Co will probably be CG-ing the crap out of this. I'm holding judgement until I see the film. Can't wait.

I really don't like the short ears. They make the suit look too childish, and a lot less menacing.

Looks terrible!!

Why are they going back to the suit that disables all neck movement?? I thought they actually fixed that with Bale's outfit and would incorporate the ability to turn your head into this new suit. It is going to look awkward again every time Batman has to look around him.

Also, why is it so mad? What is the point of the mask having facial expressions? What happens when Bruce is in the costume and gets good news that he won the lotto? He will just look pissed as if his parents died again.

digging it for now but really still have to wait and see it (more clearly) with the rest of the suit. waiting for the trailer to hit before i make any final judgments. but i know that's a ways off.

For clarification:

Unfortunately the head is not separate from the neck. And the items in the background are an 'art cowl' exhibit that's non movie related.

Looks great, but I hope the rest of the body and/or suit is a mixture of black and grey.

EPIC

I love that cowl!! It's almost like Adam West's cowl mixed with Keaton's. And I love that it's more comic booky and not the militaristic crap from the last two Nolan films.

Nolan's films had problems but the costume was not one of them.

That's your opinion. There's plenty of people who didn't like the outfit in the last two. The Batman Begins one made him look how he's supposed to look, muscular and intimidating.

True we obviously have differing opinions because the Begins costume looks awful.

Awesome times for comic fans

Can't wait to see this and other DC/Marvel films coming up.

I have a feeling that the body material will be grey....Not sure how a blue cowl would look in live action to be honest

If you look closely it actually looks like the head/face part of the mask is separate from the neck which is friggin' awesome.

Furrowed brow ftw.

Kaare Andrews ,sums it up the best - 'I find it strange that every movie iteration of batman seems to have a cowl made from this same mysterious black rubber. What is it supposed to represent in the real world? Would love to see something in leather... [link] ^ see pic above
