Cool Videos: Everything wrong with Iron Man 3 according to fans

10.09.2013

The guys behind the "Everything Wrong With..." series have debuted their latest video, this time taking aim at IRON MAN 3. But unlike previous videos, these movie sins have been submitted by fans of the series. Yes, that does mean a lot of whining about how a certain character was handled, but their eagle-eyed viewers also noticed some legit issues with the film as well. I'm talking about things like a phone changing between shots, scars switching locations and Gwyneth Paltrow's 100% fire and Extremis proof bra.

"Jon Favreau is at a New Year's party but isn't picking up beautiful babies."

I love how this cinemasins guy calls the video "everything wrong with Iron Man 3 according to fans". Even he knows its a good movie, and fanboys are just trolling over the Mandarin. Like someone wisely pointed out below, the only thing wrong with Iron Man 3 is fanboys.

This is why I kind of hate fanboys. All they want is fanfare. They can watch a shitty movie, but as long as it gets the fanfare right, fanboys will love it. If the movie is good, but doesn't get the fanfare right, then fanboys

Glad CinemaSins got around on showing how bad Iron Man 3 really is. If Shane Black played throughout the movie that Tony Stark was all messed up because he nearly died in a worm hole, I could totally follow that. But the decisions he made on his script were agonizing to watch.

Re: Extra Tidbit

I'm not sure about future Marvel films, but Extremis had a role to play in the pilot for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel get so much right but it's a shame that they thought the Mandarin twist was the way to go...especially after making him sound so very badass in the trailer.

They won't give "Tesseract Technology" a rest so I don't see them letting Extremis go.

I caught this film recently again but it just gets worse with each viewing. Its awful cause it had so much potential and what we got was something really mediocre. The video was funny as hell btw.

Iron Bad

This movie was a horrible entry into the Iron Man Series....honestly the first one was the best, but thats usually the case in a lot of movie trilogies unless they are flimed back to back....It would be cool if RDJ did one more Iron Man movie and corrected most of the mistakes, this movie had.

MUCH better on repeated viewings...

...once the shock and disappointment of the twist wasn't twisting my view of the movie as a whole. It was definitely a very flawed movie, but not quite as bad as I initially thought it was. Funny enough, this video didn't really acknowledge the problems I had with the film. The marketing, the lack of coherent themes, the terrible CGI in several scenes, ridiculous character decisions, the overall tone of the movie...those are why I can't rank this movie as high as it probably could've been. As for the Mandarin....would it have really been so bad if the terrorist leader we saw in the trailers had actually been the main villain? Forget all about the 10 super-powered alien rings and all that....just Tony facing off against a terrorist. I would've rather seen that movie.

I disagree. If you are a fanboy that simply hates the film because of it handled the Mandarin, then sure, it gets better after repeated viewing. If you hate it because of actual cinematic/ narrative shortcomings such as, they replace an extremely charismatic villain with a bland Bond-style stereotype who has shallow motivation and no meaningful arc, or the fact that large parts of the plot crumble away once the "big reveal" happens (i.e. Hansen and Killian were so desperate for funding for

Some day they will show this film and either Batman Begins/ The Dark Knight Rises together in film classes just to analyze how they use very similar plot reversals and why it works in one film but not in the other.

Not a great film. But far superior to the god awful Man of Steel.

Thinking about Man of Steel will do that to you. Best remedy is to remember the moment when Superman snaps Zod's neck, and have yourself a good laugh at one of the most unintentionally hilarious moments ever filmed.

Iron man 3 was pretty bad. The redeeming factors were RDJ is a great actor/persona, and he can carry a bad film and make it better.
Shane Black made bad choices.

Its not an irredeemable film, but yes from a structuralist/ narrative perspective Shane Black made some very poor storytelling choices (which is a completely separate issue from ticking off the fans, but neither of them is a very nice thing to do), I really don't think there are any two ways around that.

Turrible...

This fucking movie... It's so bland, so cliche, it felt like it was made for a TV series. The editing as noted above is horrible, looks like a highschool project gone wrong. What a mess...

I personally loved this movie. Okay, maybe not loved, the Mandarin seriously got fucked over. But other than that this film was a smart & extremely fun Superhero film. It was cool to see Stark doing some leg work and detective work, instead of the traditional "there's trouble, suit up, fight trouble away" cliche. He was actually more of a detective in this film than Batman (the world's greatest detective) ever was in any of his films. And personally, I enjoy the hell out of that shit. Stark was

It actually took me two viewings to somewhat appreciate Iron Man 3. I wouldn't say it's a bad movie because it's probably Marvel Studios' most mature comic book movie, that's for sure. The whole Mandarin cover up reminded me of like a Bin Laden thing. Which is cool, but how the hell do you make Killian a more high priority villain over The Mandarin? I mean, The Mandarin is like Joker to Batman. I would've personally preferred if Ben Kingsley portrayed maybe just a regular Ten Rings terrorist

Honest Trailers is good, these videos SUCK

This guy's voice is so grating. He sounds like a little whiny bitchy nerd and I can just picture him sitting in his mommy's basement making these videos. The dude who does Honest Trailers (who makes a cameo in this video - yeah, I watched it, I'm not just ranting) is funnier, has a less annoying voice, and *started* this stuff. This guy basically jumped on the bandwagon and is way less clever and amusing. I really wish you guys would stop posting these!

EDIT: I liked Iron Man 3 for what it

EDIT: I liked Iron Man 3 for what it was, but didn't think it was really anything special. Just more of the same. Efficient blockbuster, but they're gonna need to really step it up with the next sequel if they want to keep things fresh.

I didnt hate it

I was just underwhelmed by it. But since i was more underwhelmed by "Man of Steel" and "The Wolverine", this movie won out for superhero flicks for me this summer. None of them were bad but none of them were all that great. Looking forward to "Thor 2" and especially "Captain America 2"

I liked it a lot and I still do. It's a Shane Black movie and I'm glad that he got to put his stamp on it as a director instead of having to toe the company line.

Hmm

This shows my biggest complaint with the film, and that's why didn't Tony use the suits when they blew his house up. It just shows how poor of a film this was.

Because its Tony's equivalent of a nuclear deterrant. The Ace up his Sleeve. His own personal Avengers team. To only be used when a global catastrophe is in the offing. His house being blown up simply didn't rise to that threat level.

The President about to be murdered on youtube however, did.

His "ace up his sleeve" also known as his "Deus Ex Machina." A plot device with no foreshadowing that allows the situation to magically be resolved without really requiring any growth on the character's part (yes there was growth throughout the film, but the House Party Initiative did not contribute to that growth at all). Some part of the film were pretty well-written but any time you use DEM its just lazy writing.

The fanboys who think its the worst thing ever that it didn't "do justice" to Mandarin...the most grotesquely racist villain in all comicdom.

Black did the only thing you could do with Mandarin...make him an amalgam of every cartoonish cliche we have about Middle Eastern terrorists, and then expose him as fabricated propaganda.

Few movies are perfect, but Iron Man 3 is the best of the trilogy, and I'd argue the best made Marvelverse flick to date.

If Marvel can bring Thanos to the screen, why bitch slap the Mandarin?
Or is Thanos really Thanos? Maybe Thanos is Robin Wiliams, lol.

I know, Jedd. Tyler is a really talented guy, he's able to play a ton of instruments on his scores. Check out his Children of Dune, Partition, and basically anything by the guy.
