Cruise a Monster?

09.05.2008
Tom Cruise and United Artists have acquired the rights to the best-selling book THE MONSTER OF FLORENCE, a serial-killer thriller. The story is based on eight grisly double homicides believed to have been committed single-handedly between 1968 and 1985 in and around the Italian Renaissance gem. Christopher McQuarrie (THE USUAL SUSPECTS), who worked with Cruise on VALKYRIE will write the script.

So will Cruise star in this? Sure, why not. He can do anything. I don't care what anyone says or how many lunatic things he does, I still think he's the freaking man. That's right, guys. No punchline here, just heterosexual love and respect. Wow this article is bland. Umm, why did the thief take a shower? Because he wanted to make a clean getaway. Yes, much better. And more professional I might add.
Extra Tidbit: Cruise is a big fan of Joss Stone.

There's a gem specifically called "the Italian Renaissance"? Whatever the case, that's a guy with one major obsession with a rock.

Cruise is at his best when he's having fun. You could tell he was having a good time being a psycho in Collateral. Personally I find his work infinitely preferable to that of, say, Katie Holmes - dunno, I just don't 'buy' her in most roles. She was the worst thing about Batman Begins. Don't get me started on Joss Stone, either. Faux Soul is a plague on the music world, people.

Cruise is the man!

Nice to hear some positive accolades for Tom. Personal problems are just that - personal. On screen, he's still golden!

I guess at this point it would sound like jumping on the bandwagon, but I love Cruise, too, and have never paid attention to the couch-jumping crap. He's the fookin' man and I'll see anything he puts out. Vanilla Sky has been my favorite film since I first saw it and most of my top ten features him as well. Tropic Thunder was the shit and he was easily the best part.

hell yes

I'm with all of you guys on this one. I'm a huge Tom Cruise fan.. I could care less what cult he worships in his own time. Just as long as he gives me gems like The Last Samuari, Collateral, MI trilogy, and all of his earlier work. Can't wait for Valkeryie

Cruise rules, and so does JT for laying it down straight. Soooooo sick of Cruise bashing, especially after Tropic Thunder...

Hell yeah

I agree, Tom is the man. He can be so badass, he'll outdo almost any other actor out there.

I just interviewed Douglas Preston for the Brown University Bookstore's Newsletter, and he told me something about the rights to the book being sold, but...holy shit. Tom Cruise? United Artists? Holy shit.

Even if he doesn't star in it (he's too short to play Douglas Preston, and I'm saying that as a BIG fan of both of them), his involvement in this is GOLD.

WOW!!

Oh, and it's not a novel...IT'S A NONFICTION BOOK!

I think The Cruise needs some more roles like the one he played in Collateral...Vicent is the main man. Let Tom Cruise be the serial-killer.

noneedforjokes

i agree i love tommy. but james just because you didn't really have anything witty to say doesn't mean you should come up with something. the news was fine enough. writing bad jokes or un-clever remarks really degrades your articles.
