Inhumans Adam McKay

Last month a rumor surfaced that ANT-MAN co-writer and THE OTHER GUYS director Adam McKay was set to helm a Marvel movie, but according to Kevin Feige, that's not the case. Why? Because apparently McKay could potentially direct any future film for the studio.

Feige recently sat down with Collider, and he was asked if McKay was in the running to direct INHUMANS, which has been the popular guess since it is one of the Phase 3 films that doesn't have a director yet, with the other two being CAPTAIN MARVEL and BLACK PANTHER.

Adam McKay is in the running for everything. Adam McKay is a great, great writer and director. He did an amazing pass on the Ant-Man draft with Paul Rudd for us, and I didn’t know him before then. And we got to know him through that and liked him very much, and have met with him a number of times trying to find something else, so we’ve talked about a lot of characters with him.

Collider also asked Kevin Feige about the rumored INHUMANS logline: “About a group of people that are given powers only to discover they might be part of an alien race.” Feige response?

Well I’d say that’s relatively fair, but that’s not official. I’ve never seen that as an official logline.

I know most believe Adam McKay will definitely be behind the camera for INHUMANS, but personally, I think he'd do a hell of a job with a Spidey movie. Do you want McKay to direct INHUMANS, or a different upcoming Marvel film?

ANT-MAN will be in theaters on July 17, 2015, and INHUMANS is scheduled to open on July 12, 2019.

Out of all of the possible films that Marvel has coming up, I would rather see him direct Ant-Man 2. Just seems more like his style.

It seems almost bizarre that a studio that churns out big blockbuster event movies over and over again is so excited about a director like Adam McKay. I don't mean anything negative about him, just that level of excitement is strange considering the movies Marvel makes and the movies he makes.

Why would he be the running man in every project? He seems like a gun for hire rather than a director dedicated to certain character.

I read that as being more like how enthusiastic Feige is about the prospect of Adam McKay.

He does seem enthusiastic like you pointed out. I just felt that McKay feels like a gun for hire rather than a director that is dedicated to certain character, say Scott Derrickson for Doctor Strange movie.
