Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As production wraps on what was previously referred to as the UNTITLED HAN SOLO STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY FILM, director Ron Howard has finally revealed the upcoming adventure's official title. Can I get a drumroll, please? Okay folks, the title of the forthcoming Han Solo spin-off is … SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY.

You can check out Howard's video in which he made the announcement via his official Twitter page below:

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY stars Alden Ehrenreich as a 20-something version of Harrison Ford’s infamous smuggler character from the Star Wars universe. Joining Ehrenreich will be Donald Glover in the role of the suave, double-dealing Lando Calrissian – originally played by Billy Dee Williams for the original Star Wars Trilogy. Also along for the ride is Joonas Suotamo, who will wear the fur as Chewbacca as opposed to the original wookie warrior, Peter Mayhew.

Co-starring alongside the infamous above-mentioned trio will be Thandie Newton and Emilia Clarke in unspecified roles, while Woody Harrelson has also been cast as a yet-to-be-named mentor-type character. Additionally, Phoebe Waller-Bridge will also board the project in a performance-capture capacity.

Written by The Empire Strikes Back and The Force Awakens screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan, SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY will shoot first in theaters on May 25, 2018
