The new Teen Wolf to be directed by the dude who did Highlander

If you’ve seen 1986’s HIGHLANDER, then you’ve seen a decent little fantasy movie. A staple of the 80s that’s not without its charms. If you’ve seen 1991’s HIGHLANDER II: THE QUICKENING, then you’ve seen one of the most ridiculous sequels ever made. This, of course, is thanks in part to director Russell Mulcahy (who also did 2007’s RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION). According to Shock Till You Drop, he will be directing MTV’s TEEN WOLF.

The new show (or rather, the pilot episode) will star all new youngins in Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O’Brien. The story will remain pretty much the same as the original save for that “dramatic thriller” crap . From our sick siblings at Arrow in the Head: “MTV’s take on the film… is a dramatic thriller with a buddy-comedy element at the center and a romantic plot line. It revolves around Scott McCall (Posey), a dorky high-school student who gets a rush of new powers, including the ability to attract girls, after a wolf attack.”

No word on when production is set to start. TEEN WOLF can be seen sometime later this year. I’ll watch it… but my expression will be like James Hampton’s the whole time.
