Zach Galifianakis & Jon Hamm attached to star in Keeping Up With the Joneses

THR is reporting Zach Galifianakis and Jon Hamm are in talks to join KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES, a new comedy from SUPERBAD and PAUL director Greg Mottola. Galifianakis and Hamm are still negotiating their deals, but Mottola has already closed his deal, according to the site.

Mike LeSieur (YOU, ME AND DUPREE, THE MAIDEN HEIST, television's Glory Daze) wrote the script for KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES, and the film will follow, "a type-A couple in an idyllic suburban neighborhood who discover that their new, seemingly perfect neighbors are undercover agents." No word on who the two actors will be playing in the new movie, but I could very easily see Jon Hamm playing either the male half of the type-A couple, or as one of the undercover agents.

The plot for KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES might not seem very fresh, but sometimes even the stalest idea can end up being an excellent finished product with the right people involved. Mike LeSieur hasn't done amazing work with his scripts, however both Jon Hamm and Zach Galifianakis have proven they can be very funny, and Greg Mottola has done some solid work in the past. I'm interested in KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES, but I definitely want to know more about the new comedy.

Zach Galifianakis has a cameo in this week's MUPPETS MOST WANTED, and he will also appear in the upcoming BIRDMAN starring Michael Keaton and Edward Norton. The final season of Mad Men featuring Jon Hamm will begin airing on April 13th, 2014, and you can also check out Hamm soon in the new sports drama MILLION DOLLAR ARM.
