America loves Melissa McCarthy according to Redbox’s top ten most rented films of 2013

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

My friends and I love to joke about Redbox. Not that there's anything wrong with the company, but it's obvious that the people who usually rent from them don't have the best taste in movies. Sometimes when I'm in a Walmart I'll take a look to see which movie someone is checking out, and nine times out of ten, it's either a shitty Adam Sandler film or a generic, straight to DVD action flick starring John Cena.

Redbox has released their list of most rented films of 2013, and one thing we can take away from it is that people really love Melissa McCarthy. Her comedy IDENTITY THIEF is this year's top rental, and THE HEAT is right behind it in the number 2 slot. Apparently people didn't mind seeing D.C. being attacked twice, since both OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN and WHITE HOUSE DOWN made the list as well. And surprising no one, GROWN UPS 2 and HERE COMES THE BOOM were also in the top 10, but let's not talk about that. It'll just make me incredibly cynical.

Redbox's 10 Most Rented Films Of 2013

1. Identity Thief
2. The Heat
3. World War Z
4. Flight
5. Olympus Has Fallen
6. Django Unchained
7. Grown Ups 2
8. White House Down
9. Here Comes the Boom
10. Now You See Me
