Prime Video is on its way to capitalizing on the acquisition of the MGM brand. It was recently reported that the streaming service is going down a checklist of franchises they plan on rebooting in one form or another, which include IPs like Robocop and Stargate. However, Amazon was quick to quell concerns from James Bond fans that future installments in the film series would not be exclusively relegated to the platform. Although, they certainly have found other means to expand the brand.

Deadline is reporting that there will be a reality competition titled 007’s Road to a Million that will stream on Prime Video and Succession star Brian Cox has joined the show as a mysterious figure who controls the fate of the contestants. The character is identified as The Controller, and he’s being described as an “enigmatic character who controls the fate of the contestants” as he lurks in the shadows. Amazon also describes him as “villainous and cultured” and revels “in the increasingly difficult journeys and questions the contestants must overcome.”

Cox shares his enthusiasm on his involvement with the project, “I got to see how ordinary people would cope with being on a James Bond adventure. As they travel the world to some of the most iconic Bond locations, it gets more intense and nail-biting. I enjoyed my role as both villain and tormentor, with license to put the hopeful participants through the mangle.” For as many times as Cox has played villains, this would be his first foray into the world of 007. He has appeared in other notable spy franchises, such as the Bourne series, as well as providing the voice to many villainous video game characters in action and thriller titles.

The synopsis for 007’s Road to a Million, according to Deadline, reads,
“Filmed in many iconic Bond locations, from the Scottish Highlands to Venice and Jamaica, 007s Road to a Million will see contestants in two-person teams tested on intelligence, endurance, and heroism in a bid to win $1.2 million. They must also correctly answer questions hidden in the different locations around the world to advance to the next challenge.”
