If you were doubting whether or not the upcoming Sly and Arnie vehicle THE TOMB would have enough of a genre bent…consider the possible director!

Earlier this morning we let you know that, even though Arnold The Schwarz was unable to make THE TOMB with director Antoine Fuqua, he may end up with a smaller role opposite new star Sly Stallone after-all. Well, according to Deadline, a director may have been found!

Word is THE RITE and 1408 director Mikael Hafstrom (seen right) is in talks to helm THE TOMB for Summit Entertainment. He’s apparently been circling the gig for awhile, but fell out of favor when Arnie went to Bulgaria. Now that he’s back, movement on THE TOMB has commenced.

Scripted by Miles Chapman, who will now rewrite with Hafstrom:

THE TOMB follows Ray Breslin (Sly), the world’s foremost authority on structural security — specifically prisons. His skills are put to the test when he is framed and put in a high-security prison of his own design and must find the person who put him there.

I liked 1408 well enough, but heard THE RITE was utterly insipid. Let’s cross our fingers Mikael bring the former talents to the fore and try not to f*ck up Sly and Arnie’s post-EXPENDABLES reunion.

THE RITE’s Alice Braga
