At the beginning of this week, Jared P. clued you guys in to a new show coming to The CW with some bite, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. The show is being based on the young adult book series of the same name which should most definitely hoist up a blood-red flag that we may be in for more lame TWILIGHT bullshit. However, the plot for DIARIES as well as one of its exec. producers gives me the feeling that we’ll be in for something much cooler.
To further whet our appetite, The CW has released an initial batch of production stills from the show. You can find one up top and one below. The above image definitely calls to mind fond BUFFY memories, which is definitely a big plus. Also, series star, Nina Dobrev, appears to be very photogenic. I believe I’m hoping this show succeeds on a respectable genre level. Having SCREAM’s Kevin Williamson on board as executive producer (I hinted to him up top) should be a big positive.
The plot for the show stakes like this: Elena Gilbert has always been a star student; beautiful, popular and involved with school and friends. As the fall semester begins, Elena becomes fascinated with the mysterious new boy in school, Stefan Salvatore, and she has no way of knowing he is a centuries-old vampire. While Stefan struggles to live peacefully among humans, his brother Damon is the embodiment of violence and brutality. Now these two vampire brothers „Ÿ one good, one evil „Ÿ are at war for Elenafs soul in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.
The rest of the cast includes Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Steven R. McQueen, Sara Canning, Katerina Graham, Candice Accola, Zach Roerig, Kayla Ewell, Michael Trevino, and Chris William Martin. VAMPIRE DIARIES premiers this fall on The CW.
