Ah, SOLOMON KANE. How I’ve missed you so. Okay, so it’s only been 13 days since we last met up, but damn, I still long to see you gorily rid the world of all its evil. And that we certainly have on display (at least in part) in a pair of fresh clips from the film (which you can witness below!)
If y’all are still reeling from a dazed holiday stupor, let’s rerun this bastard down:
SOLOMON KANE is a 17th century mercenary who owes his soul to the devil and looks to redeem himself by travailing the Earth and fighting all forms of evil. The character was conceived by Robert E. Howard, with this film adaptation brought to life by Michael J. Bassett (DEATHWATCH, WILDERNESS).
In the first clip below entitled “Castle Fight,” not much is left to the imagination. We’re literally treated to a rain dappled battle sequence that kicks off when our man Kane launches a 50 yard dagger (sword, really) through the heart of young adversary. Very Nice!
The second clip is a cool behind-the-scenes look called “Creatures.” In it, a few principals involved in the film (writer/director Bassett, producer Samuel Hadida, et al.) discuss the look of the villains, how they wanted to manifest onscreen hell, create something never before seen, and all that cool jazz.
Starring James Purefoy in the titular lead, the flick also features James Babson, Laura Baranik, Geoff Bell, Pete Postlethwaite, Jason Flemyng, Matthew Blood-Smyth, Brian Caspe, John Comer, Mackenzie Crook, and Patrick and Rachel Hurd-Wood.

Michael J. Bassett apparently served as Wardrobe Assistant on the 1997 Kate Beckinsale film SHOOTING FISH!
