Earlier this week we got the news that Shiloh Fernandez would be joining Amanda Seyfried in Catherine Hardwicke’s gothic/horror reimagining THE GIRL WITH THE RED RIDING HOOD. Truth be told, I bet nobody cared about that news. I mean who the hell is Shiloh Fernandez anyway and why do we care? One name we DO care about though is the great Gary Oldman.
As I prepared myself to writer this article, I realised I am a huge fan of Mr. Oldman’s. The man can seriously do no wrong. It doesn’t matter if the director sucks, the movie sucks or the entire cast sucks… Oldman (right) always produces. With that being said, it’s great news that he might also be along for the ride in THE GIRL WITH THE RED RIDING HOOD! The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog reports that Oldman and Julie Christie are close to signing on to the film while Max ‘Jeremy Irons’ son’ Irons has already jumped on board.
Apparently Irons will play Henri, the son of a blacksmith who, through an arrangement, is to marry Seyfried’s character. Oldman would stand in as Father Soloman, a man whose title is the Witchfinder General and whose job is to find and kill the werewolf while Christie would star as Seyfried’s grandmother, whose favorite pastime is knitting — with a pair of silver needles. Nice! Oldman as a Witchfinder General that kills werewolves? Sh*t I’m sold! The rest of this movie could fall to pieces, but as long as Oldman is kicking Werewolf ass and Seyfried (below) is looking hot, I’m game!
