8MM starring Nic Cage & Joaquin Phoenix Blu-ray specs announced

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

One of the mini-classics of the late 90's is director/producer Joel Schumacher's (THE LOST BOYS, BATMAN FOREVER) gritty thriller 8MM (pre-order HERE) starring Nicolas Cage and Joaquin Phoenix. The film is by no means as classic as screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker's SEVEN starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman (or even his 1999 Tim Burton flick SLEEPY HOLLOW), but still, 8MM holds a special place in my horror-thriller heart.

And if you're a fan of the film too then today you'll be excited to hear that Scream Factory will be unleashing the flick on Blu-ray this January with killer special features including an all-new interview with director/producer Joel Schumacher. You can check out a list of all of the special features below.

Synopsis:

Private detective Tom Welles (Nicolas Cage) lives a normal life with his wife (Catherine Keener) and young daughter, until he receives a startling new case. A widow named Mrs. Christian (Myra Carter) has found what appears to be a snuff film among her late husband's belongings, and she wants Welles to determine if the movie is real or fake. Welles heads to California, where a video store employee (Joaquin Phoenix) helps him infiltrate the dangerous and depraved world of illegal porn movies.
