Happy Death Day 2U’s Sarah Yarkin joins witch series Motherland: Fort Salem

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I haven't seen the work Sarah Yarkin did when she appeared on various television shows like Transparent, Foursome, American Horror Story, and Single Parents, but I thought she was a fun addition to the cast of HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U, so I'm glad to hear that she'll be doing more genre work on the upcoming series Motherland: Fort Salem.

Centering on young witches played by Ashley Nicole Williams, Taylor Hickson, and Jessica Sutton, Motherland: Fort Salem is set to begin airing on Freeform on March 18th. The show is set in

an alternate America where witches ended their persecution nearly 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the U.S. government to fight for their country. The story follows three young women from basic training in combat magic into early deployment. In this world, the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped, with the more dominant women on the front lines fighting looming terrorist threats that are familiar to our world — but with supernatural tactics and weapons.

Yarkin will be taking on the role of "Libba Swythe, a coldly upper-class, athletic, ruthlessly ambitious young woman who has an old grudge against (Williams' character) Abigail."

The show's cast also includes Amalia Holm, Demetria McKinney, Kai Bradbury, and Lyne Renee.

Motherland: Fort Salem was created by Eliot Laurence, who also serves as showrunner. It's executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Kevin Messick of Gary Sanchez Productions, as well as Maria Maggenti, Steven Adelson, and Laurence.

Yarkin also has a role in LEPRECHAUN 2 and IDLE HANDS director Rodman Flender's zombie comedy EAT BRAINS LOVE, which started making the festival rounds last year.
