I'm not sure if you know this or not, but PULP FICTION and KILL BILL writer-director Quentin Tarantino plans to call in quits after directing his next (10th) motion picture. And today we're hearing that Tarantino's 10th and final film may very well be a horror movie!
Tarantino shared during a recent interview:
If I come up with a terrific horror film story, I will do that as my tenth movie. I love horror movies. I would love to do a horror film. And I do actually think that the Spahn Ranch sequence is the closest to a horror sequence because I do think it's vaguely terrifying. And I didn't even quite realize how good we did it, frankly, to tell you the truth, until my editor told me.
[My editor told me,] 'The Spahn Ranch sequence is a horror film. 'Oh, really? It's good? It's working?' He goes, 'No, no, no, Quentin, you don't understand. It's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre with a budget. It's like Brad Pitt is walking into The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. It's fucking terrifying.' I go, 'Wow, I'm glad! Really?!' Because I hadn't seen anything. And when I look at it, I think, 'Yeah, this is sorta like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,' which is about as good a compliment as you can make.
For those of you out there that might not remember, Tarantino has already directed a "horror movie" in the form of DEATH PROOF. That movie was part of the cult classic GRINDHOUSE double feature and followed:
Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) is a professional body double who likes to take unsuspecting women for deadly drives in his free time. He has doctored his car for maximum impact; when Mike purposely causes wrecks, the bodies pile up while he walks away with barely a scratch. The insane Mike may be in over his head, though, when he targets a tough group of female friends, including real-life stuntwoman Zoe Bell (who served as Uma Thurman's double in "Kill Bill"), who plays herself.
Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino DEATH PROOF starred Kurt Russell, Rosario Dawson, Vanessa Ferlito, Jordan Ladd, Rose McGowan, Sydney Poitier, Tracie Thoms, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Zoë Bell. Buy DEATH PROOF on Blu-ray RIGHT HERE.
