There were five writing credits on last year's slasher HELL FEST, and in the last week we've heard that three of that film's writers have secured work on new genre projects. Seth M. Sherwood will be making his feature directorial debut with a horror thriller titled BOYFRIEND, Akela Cooper is writing the sequel to the Conjuring Universe film THE NUN, and now Blair Butler is set to write a supernatural thriller for Screen Gems and producers Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert, and Emile Gladstone.
This project doesn't have a title yet and story details are being kept under wraps, but it is known that it will have something to do with
a young woman who is invited to a lavish destination wedding, unaware of the horrors that await.
Butler got her start working on Attack of the Show. In addition to co-writing HELL FEST she has also written CHILD'S PLAY remake director Lars Klevberg's delayed supernatural horror film POLAROID and is developing a project called THE STEPS, "a twist on the possession genre", for Bad Robot and Paramount. 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE editor Stefan Grube is attached to direct THE STEPS if/when it moves into production.
We'll be paying close attention to this project Butler is working on for Raimi, and will be providing updates when more information (like the title) is made available.
