WandaVision is apparently still on track to debut on Disney+ this year

WandaVision, Disney+, Marvel

As Disney is said to be considering pushing BLACK WIDOW from its November 6th release date into 2021, we could very well be without a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie for the first time in a decade. However, the small-screen side of the MCU will have our back as it would seem that WandaVision is still on track to debut on the Disney+ streaming service later this year.

Starring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as Vision, the upcoming series blends classic sitcoms with the MCU for a story that finds two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives, only to begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. While it was announced that WandaVision would hit Disney+ late 2020, that was in our idyllic pre-COVID world, but according to a recent press-release for Disney+'s fall programming schedule, the series is still expected to debut this year.

With the first anniversary of Disney+ on November 12, the service will kick off its second year with even more original entertainment premiering in late 2020 including, but not limited to: “Black Beauty,” a contemporary film adaptation of the classic story starring Mackenzie Foy, Iain Glen and Claire Forlani and the voice of Kate Winslet, “Inside Pixar,” a never-before-seen look into Pixar Animation Studios’ creative process, “On Pointe,” an original docu-series about students of the School of American Ballet and “The Nutcracker” performance at Lincoln Center, and “WandaVision,” the upcoming original series from Marvel Studios.

The signs seem to be point to a December premiere, but I suppose we'll have to wait for something more concrete. In addition to Olsen and Bettany, WandaVision will also star Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, a character who was introduced as a child in CAPTAIN MARVEL, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Randall Park as FBI agent Jimmy Woo, and Kathryn Hahn as a "nosy neighbor." During San Diego Comic-Con last year, Olsen teased that WandaVision is "gonna get weird," adding that "we're gonna go deep, we're gonna have lots of surprises, and we're gonna finally understand Wanda Maximoff as the Scarlet Witch."
