Robert Downey Jr. Back as Iron Man in Black Widow?!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Robert Downey Jr., Avengers: Endgame, Iron Man

Hold the phone! Does the great Tony Stark (RDJ) have one last trick up his sleeve?! It would appear that this weekends Saturn Awards ended up revealing a possible scoop (spoiler?) that Iron Man will be making an appearance in nexts May's BLACK WIDOW movie starring Scarlett Johansson! I wonder if Marvel wanted this made public this far off from BW's May 1, 2020 release date? Here's how Deadline stated the news after RDJ won best actor at the Saturn Awards:

Robert Downey Jr.’s swan song performance as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, in Endgame earned him the best actor in a film award. (Downey will be seen in the role of Stark one more time, however, in the Marvel prequel Black Widow in May 2020.)

There you have it! I can't get enough of RDJ as Tony Stark, so I'm definitely happy to hear this news… however, I can help but wondering if the always-solid Downey Jr. will now be used as a crutch to help bolster further MCU movies. What say you? Let us know in the comments section below!

In addition to Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff and Mr. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, BLACK WIDOW will also star David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid's Tale) as Mason, an ally from Romanoff's past, Florence Pugh (MIDSOMMAR) as Yelena Belova, a sister-figure to Romanoff, and Rachel Weisz (THE FAVOURITE) as Melina, a seasoned spy. Cate Shortland (LORE) is directing BLACK WIDOW from a script by Jac Schaeffer (CAPTAIN MARVEL).
