Kevin Smith makes an emotional return for his Comic Con panel in Hall H

Last Updated on January 29, 2026

Kevin Smith is, love him or hate him, exactly like all of us. Growing up a movie fan, Smith took the extra step to actually do it and has been lucky enough to make a career in Hollywood. While critics have been less than kind to his movies in recent years, Kevin Smith continues to have fun and turn out film after film that showcase him just having fun with his friends. It is a bonus we get to laugh along with him. A regular in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, Smith had the difficult challenge (again) of following Marvel Studios. Those of us who stayed to hear the man talk about his new film, JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT, were lucky to hear stories about how the film got made, where Smith got his inspiration for the story, and how it helped reunite him with his long time friend, Ben Affleck. Apparently, Affleck and Smith had not spoken for eight years but JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT led to their reconciliation.

We got to see the recently debuted first trailer for JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT along with a pair of scenes Smith edited exclusively for Hall H. Smith was also joined by co-stars Jason Mewes, Harley Quinn Smith, and Melissa Benoist. They took questions from the audience and just had fun with it. Check out the trailer below along with our tweets from the panel.

JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT hits theaters on October 15th.
