Rian Johnson’s Knives Out to carve up a Thanksgiving 2019 release

After keeping a sharp eye on STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI director Rian Johnson's upcoming murder mystery KNIVES OUT, it's being reported that Lionsgate is preparing to carve up a Thanksgiving 2019  (November 27) release for the highly-anticipated feature. While details surrounding the film are scarce at this time, we do know that Johnson's foray into the murder most foul genre will be presented as a modern day whodunit yarn. What's more is that KNIVES OUT is chock-full o' silver screen heavy-hitters, including Daniel Craig (BOND 25, COWBOYS & ALIENS), Chris Evans (AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, THE LOSERS), Lakeith Stanfield (SELMA, SHORT TERM 12), Michael Shannon (THE SHAPE OF WATER, MIDNIGHT SPECIAL), Don Johnson (THE HATEFUL EIGHT, DJANGO: UNCHAINED), Jamie Lee Curtis (HALLOWEEN, TRADING PLACES), Toni Collette (HEREDITARY, KRAMPUS) and Ana de Armas (HANDS OF STONE, BLADE RUNNER 2049).

Back in September, Johnson confirmed that his new Star Wars trilogy is still happening, much to the dismay of those who feel that Johnson ruined the franchise forever with his divisive and action-packed installment of the series. According to sources close to the project, the new slate of films are so far planned as being separate from the original Star Wars trilogy. At the very least, fans who cared not for Johnson's The Last Jedi can rest easy knowing that the new trilogy plans to take a stab at something exciting and original for the beloved space saga.

Personally, I thought STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI was a ride, and I look forward to seeing what Johnson does next, be it the star-studded KNIVES OUT or otherwise. Let us know your thoughts on either project in the comments section below.
