A new poster for Tom Hardy’s Venom web-swings online

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

One of Marvel's most savage, tortured and badass characters will be swinging onto the big screen, later this year, with Academy Award nominated actor Tom Hardy suited up as the lethal protector Venom.

Ahead of tomorrow's trailer drop, we've got a new and official poster for the film that shows Venom's iconic and sinister-looking eyes staring back at us with a lust for violence.

You can check it out for yourself below:

The film is said to be inspired by both the Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes storylines. The first finds Venom making an agreement with Spider-Man that they will leave each other alone, so long as Eddie Brock aka Venom behaves himself. Before long, the father of one of Venom's victims seeks him out with a group of super-powered mercenaries to take revenge. Spider-Man, upon seeing the misleading coverage of Venom on television, heads to San Francisco to confront him and instead winds up fighting alongside Venom against five new offspring of the Venom Symbiote: Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony.

For Planet of the Symbiotes, Eddie Brock contemplates his relationship with the Venom symbiote after Venom's spawn Phage, Riot, Lasher, Agony, and Scream struggle to control themselves against their own symbiotes. Upon some reflection, Brock decides to abandon his symbiote, though the alien lifeform is not about to take that fight sitting down.

How the VENOM movie will work with or without Spider-Man's involvement has yet to be seen, though we don't have long to wait now until we uncover at least a few details. Be sure to check back tomorrow when the first trailer for VENOM goes live!

VENOM starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Tom Holland (rumored), Jenny Slate, and Riz Ahmed will arrive in theaters on October 5th.
