Carrie Fisher’s dog inspired alien from Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Wherever Carrie Fisher went, it was a good bet that Gary, her French Bulldog and emotional support animal, would be at her side. With his distinctive protruding tongue, Gary made a memorable impression during Carrie Fisher's press-tours for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, and it seems that he'll be making an appearance of sorts in the upcoming STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. In an image featuring Finn (John Boyega) and Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) on Canto Bight, one fan noticed the creature which an alien patron is holding and immediately asked THE LAST JEDI director Rian Johnson whether the critter was inspired by Gary.

You can take a look at the image in question below, as well as close-up of "Space Gary."

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI will hit theaters on December 15th.
