After Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) each received their own standalone series, we're finally approaching what all of this has been leading up to: The Defenders. The upcoming Netflix series will find the four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, realizing they just might be stronger when teamed together as they unite with one common goal – to save New York City. Just yesterday we got a look at the first trailer for The Defenders and now a series of photos have been released which show off Marvel's latest team, and there's nary a superhero costume to be seen.
We don't know exactly what sort of shenanigans The Hand has in store for Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) in this eight-episode series, but I think I'm more excited to discover just how Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver) will threaten our heroes. The Defenders show-runner Marco Ramirez has described Weaver's character as "a very powerful force in New York City. She's everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous."
The Defenders will debut on Netflix on August 18, 2017.
