Netflix’s Anne of Green Gables adaptation Anne releases trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

While I've heard the name ANNE OF GREEN GABLES before, somewhere, I must confess I've never read the novel. Apparently it is about "the adventures of Anne Shirley, an 11-year-old orphan girl who is mistakenly sent to Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, a middle-aged brother and sister who had intended to adopt a boy to help them on their farm in Prince Edward Island. The story recounts how Anne makes her way with the Cuthberts, in school, and within the town". Okay.

Well, a new adaptation has apparenlty been produced by Netflix, and stars Amybeth McNulty as the eponymous Anne. There's also a new trailer out,  so let's take a look:

I gotta be honest, I thought that looked delightful. Obviously, it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I always enjoy kid's movies that deal with imagination and whimsy, if done tastefully. And McNulty seems to have the right amount of spunk, cuteness, and vulnerability to not come off as too precocious or awkward. I mean, there's certainly a lot of room for this to not work, but I think Netflix has earned my benefit of the doubt at this point.

So any fans of the book on here? And if so, how does the adaptation look? Either way, sound of below!

Meanwhile, ANNE will debut on Netflix May 12th, 2017.
