There hasn't been too much said regarding Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express", aside from the fact that the director will be pulling double duty and playing Hercule Poirot in the mystery-thriller as well. For a time, it was rumored that Angelina Jolie might be joining the production, but that seems to have fallen through. You can dry your eyes now with the following news, as Johnny Depp is said to be in talks to join MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS! He just the appetizer, as The Wrap reports that Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Pena and Judi Dench will also be taking part as well!

The story follows the famed investigator as he attempts to unravel the mystery behind the murder of an American businessman aboard the titular train. Branagh will be directing from a script by Michael Green (BLADE RUNNER 2, ALIEN: COVENANT). This film really could've gone either way depending on the cast, but now that Depp's in tow, alongside Ridley, Pfeiffer, Pena and Dench (as well as Leslie Odom Jr.), I have a feeling this will end up being one hell of an event film!

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS will open in theaters sometime in 2017.
