Hitchcock/Truffaut trailer: Scorsese, Fincher, and more discuss the master

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In the Sixties, François Truffaut and Alfred Hitchcock sat down at Universal Studios for a week of conversations where they discussed everything from Hitchcock's films to the art of film-making in general. The end product was the wonderful "Hitchcock/Truffaut", a personal and enlightening dialogue between the two directors. If you've never read the book, you should remedy that post-haste.

A new documentary by Kent Jones has gathered some of the best names in cinema to continue that conversation and introduce a whole new generation to the master, Alfred Hitchcock. You can check out the trailer right here!

Here’s the synopsis for HITCHCOCK/TRUFFAUT:

In 1962 Hitchcock and Truffaut locked themselves away in Hollywood for a week to excavate the secrets behind the mise-en-scène in cinema. Based on the original recordings of this meeting—used to produce the mythical book Hitchcock/Truffaut—this film illustrates the greatest cinema lesson of all time and plummets us into the world of the creator of Psycho, The Birds, and Vertigo. Hitchcock’s incredibly modern art is elucidated and explained by today’s leading filmmakers: Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, Arnaud Desplechin, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Wes Anderson, James Gray, Olivier Assayas, Richard Linklater, Peter Bogdanovich and Paul Schrader.

HITCHCOCK/TRUFFAUT opened earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival but will enjoy a limited US release on December 2, 2015.

While it's likely a difficult choice, which Alfred Hitchcock film is your favourite?
