Stallone wants Sigourney Weaver for Expendabelles and to shoot in early 2015

THE EXPENDABLES 3 hits theaters next Friday, and while they haven't perfected the formula yet, it sounds like we're in for our most fun entry with this newest installment (check out our review from the London premiere here). With that said, it looks like sights are now being set on bringing THE EXPENDABELLES to screens. In case you need a refresher, I've posted the last known synopsis below.

When America’s Navy SEALs are wiped out trying to penetrate the island lair of a deadly despot who has captured one of the world’s top nuclear scientists, it becomes clear that there is no such thing as the right man for the job and that this is a mission so impossible that only women can handle it. The only way in: some of the world’s deadliest female operatives must pose as high-class call-girls shipped in by private plane to satisfy a dictator–and instead save the scientist and the day.

At the recent EXPENDABLES 3 premiere, Sylvester Stallone made the suggestion that Sigourney Weaver could be the female equivalent of his character, and stated that the beginning of the film could start with their divorce. “So she’d get the house, the kids and my mercenaries!” he joked. "With THE EXPENDABELLES we’ve got a situation where we’re in uncharted waters,” he said. “Do we put all women actresses together, would that really work? Or do we have some women who are actually really known to be tough fighters?”

Valid question, although I think finding women who can actually act and sell "tough" would be the top priority, of which the Alien-crushing Sigourney Weaver would pass with flying colors. Producer Avi Lerner, who worked on the three EXPENDABLES movies, stated that "We are writing the final lines of the script, we’ve got lots of ideas about who is going to be in it.” There has been no official word as to the casting, but director Robert Luketic (LEGALLY BLONDE, THE UGLY TRUTH) hasn't exactly inspired confidence that this will be the kick-ass affair women deserve. In any regard, it remains an interesting project, for sure.

THE EXPENDABELLES looks to go into production in early 2015.

I assure you, this shot was vital to the integrity of ALIEN.
