It is THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG week! With only a few more days until it opens everywhere it seems like the perfect time to go back and reflect on THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY. What better way to do it than give it the Honest Trailer treatment! Join our buddies over at Screen Junkies as they dissect Peter Jackson‘s first foray into the prequel to THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of THE HOBBIT movies, but they just don’t live up to the scope and power of THE LORD OF THE RINGS. I am excited to see THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG this weekend, but I am not expecting it to be as good as anything in the original trilogy.

THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG opens Friday.
