Update: Jim Carry just tweeted this image of himself and Jeff Daniels on the set of DUMB AND DUMBER TO reading Carrey’s children’s book that comes out today, Roland Rolls. Looks like not too much has changed for the duo, except for their age of course:

Original: It was a surprising night at the Emmys, and perhaps the most unexpected moment was when Jeff Daniels won for best actor in a drama. Surprising, only because many felt Bryan Cranston was a lock for the award. While talking to E! Online backstage after winning the Emmy, Daniels said he won’t be able to celebrate that much since he’s about to start filming for DUMB AND DUMBER TO:

“We’re going to party ’til dawn and then I’m going to get on a plane and go to Atlanta and start shooting Dumb and Dumber To. The intellectual free-fall from [Will] MacAvoy to Harry Dunn, imagine if you will.”

Jeff Daniels was then asked what are the scariest and best things he’s looking forward to with DUMB AND DUMBER TO. Apparently Daniels “grinned mischievously” and said that they’re upping the ante for the sequel:

“The scariest thing? There are some things that’s we’re going to do in Dumb and Dumber To that make the toilet scene [in the original] seem lame. Pales in comparison and I can’t divulge what, but just that they’ve topped it. They best thing about it? I get to work with a comedic genius.”

The toilet scene is one of the funniest and crudest moments in the film, but I don’t think DUMBER AND DUMBER TO’s goal should be topping the first one when it comes to gross-out humor. The original actually has quite a bit of heart, and in my opinion that’s one of the reasons why it’s such a great comedy. DUMB AND DUMBER TO is sure to have plenty of gross but hilarious moments, however I hope the Farrelly brothers do remember that poop and pee jokes aren’t the only reasons why fans love the original.

DUMB AND DUMBER TO starring Jeff Daniels, Jim Carrey and Laurie Holden is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2014.
