The first new cast-member joins Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in DUMB AND DUMBER TO while FAST AND FURIOUS 7 adds yet another famous face to the franchise. Kathleen Turner and Kurt Russell are joining the aforementioned projects, both in undisclosed roles.

Variety broke the news of Turner joining the sequel to the 1994 fan favorite. While we don’t know who she will be playing, I would guess that being the first new actor cast may be a sign that her part will be significant. Teri Garr, another hottie from the 80s, appeared in the first film. Turner is not looking much like her BODY HEAT days so I doubt her character will be a love interest for Harry or Lloyd.

DUMB AND DUMBER TO will be directed by Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly and is set for a release in 2014, the 20th anniversary of the first film.

Meanwhile, Kurt Russell joins FAST AND FURIOUS 7 which is already loaded with a massive cast including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ronda Rousey, Tony Jaa, and Jason Statham. The James Wan directed entry in the franchise already has heroes and villains cast, so Russell could potentially join either team. My bet is he plays the father of Paul Walker‘s character. That would be cool. Bleeding Cool claims Russell will be taking the role originally offered to Denzel Washington and that it is modeled on Liam Neeson. Take that for what you will, but that sounds like a protagonist and not an antagonist.

Russell has only appeared in 3 films since 2007’s DEATH PROOF and yet still maintains a huge fanbase due to his work in such films as TOMBSTONE, TANGO & CASH, THE THING, and countless other films. I hope his part is significant and that his buddy Sylvester Stallone invites him to join THE EXPENDABLES 4.

FAST AND FURIOUS 7 is slated to open July 11, 2014.
