Paramount is once again developing a new Beverly Hills Cop movie

Shawn Ryan has good news and bad news. The bad news we already knew in that CBS decided to pass on a BEVERLY HILLS COP television series starring Brandon T. Jackson as Axel Foley Jr. The series would have featured Eddie Murphy as the head cop back in Detroit. Judge Reinhold also filmed a cameo. Sadly, the series was not picked up to air this Fall. But, as Ryan was overseeing the television series, he had some good news as well.

So, there you have it! While it doesn’t necessarily mean BEVERLY HILLS COP IV is happening, it definitely showed the studio there is life in the franchise. If they decide to go the Axel Junior route, I would anticipate that Brandon T. Jackson may be recast with a more recognizable face. Similarly to how Sylvester Stallone is taking a supporting role in CREED, Eddie Murphy could really give this project the boost it needs by bringing his iconic character back but in a limited capacity.
