Character descriptions for seven roles revealed on a casting sheet for Star Wars: Episode VII

Filming hasn't even started yet and J.J. Abrams famous secrecy has already been penetrated! Bleeding Cool claims to have their hands on a casting sheet for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII that outlines multiple characters being eyed for the new film. The site is claiming they have verified the sheet is legit and that casting is beginning in the UK today.

There are no names on the sheet and they do read as fairly generic, but they also could be significant parts of the STAR WARS: EPISODE VII plot. Read into these parts what you will, but this is our first solid news on the new trilogy:

Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.

Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’ t need to be particularly fit.

A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

Forty something male, fit, military type.

Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.

None of these parts really scream STAR WARS to me, but the constant references to military and physically fit make me think this is going to be a look at the New Republic or New Jedi Order in the wake of RETURN OF THE JEDI.  While we could pass these off as minor roles, rumors have swirled that the film will have a female lead, so the "late-teen female" could be that person.  I would much rather the main characters be played by unknowns and stock the villains with well known actors (FRINGE's John Noble, for instance).

Whether or not these turn out to be central characters remains to be seen but I highly doubt anyone at Bad Robot, Disney, or Lucasfilm will confirm these in any way.  But, at least we now have a look inside where Abrams and Michael Arndt are looking to take our galaxy far, far away.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is slated to open in 2015.
