There are certain directors that can pretty much do what they want. Even their worst movie are head and shoulders above most of the garbage that is tossed at us (and Redbox) week after week. The Coen Brothers are no doubt in that category and any new film by them instantly goes on my list of “Must Sees.”

The New York Times has a couple of new pictures from their new film, INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS, starring Oscar Issac, Justin Timberlake, and Carey Mulligan. Issac plays the titular character that’s loosely based from the memoirs of folk singer Dare Van Ronk and follows a struggling musician traversing the folk scene in 1960’s New York City. The film isn’t a full on musical, but will have full length songs, so think O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? In fact, T-Bone Burnett (who worked on the the music for O BROTHER) is back to produce the soundtrack for INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS.

New York Times is also reporting that while the film probably could have been finished in time for award’s season this year, the brothers decided not to rush it. Instead, there’s a chance it may have its first public viewing at the Cannes Film Festival in May. We could have some more news on how it looks and sounds shortly though because there’s apparently going to be a private pre-Grammy viewing in Los Angeles.

It shouldn’t take long after it screens for it to get sold, followed by a release date. If you haven’t already, take a look at the trailer as well.
