Cool Videos: This political ad demands Brad Bird to be named the Star Wars: Episode VII director

JoBloJoBlo

As the names pile up on the potential directors list for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, the pleas from fans are becoming more advanced. Take this political ad for example. With the election a day behind us, we have this campaign style commercial vetting Brad Bird as the best candidate to direct the new STAR WARS sequel.

I have to say that it is a compelling argument. Bird has directed four excellent movies, one of which was live action and the other three animated. This gives him a great background working with both live actors and CGI creations. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL was a fun ride that kept the balance of violence at a level that was appropriate to the story without being gory. That is what STAR WARS needs. It needs to have that hopeful quality that George Lucas intended as well as a sharp edge that isn’t overtly dark.

Bird has two projects on his plate: 1906 and 1952. Both are ambitious projects that demand a big budget. if he hopes to get either project off the ground, he will need to skip EPISODE VII. Or, he could leverage the might of producing one of the best STAR WARS movies ever and make any project he likes.

Until then, watch this video and ask yourself: Why Brad Bird?
