Please forgive me Peter Jackson, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and anyone else out there who can claim a trilogy of awesomeness to their name – your contributions to cinema are about to be eclipsed as the greatest trilogy ever conceived will soon begin its final stage of completion in September with THE WORLD’S END. The third part of what is known alternatively as “The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy” or “The Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy,” this final film follows the precedent of fantastic filmmaking set by Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost with SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ

Shaun of the Dead three reunion

With a Spring 2013 release window in mind, THE WORLD’S END was written by Wright and Pegg and tells the story of how “20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.”

There’s only one thing that could make this more awesome to me, and that would be for some Cthulhu Mythos to have found their way into the script as a part of the world’s aforementioned end.  Think it could happen? Conversely, how do you imagine Wright and Pegg might have written the potential end of the world?
