“What are you capable of?” begs the question of the new feature film CHRONICLE. When three teenagers are blessed with superhero powers, they soon come to the realization that having such power can be a dangerous thing. While this may sound far-fetched, it is easy to believe thanks to the tremendous performances the three leads, Dane DeHaan, Alex Russell and Michael B. Jordan. Each of these three actors help ground this out of this world tale into the exciting adventure it is.
The junket for CHRONICLE was handled very differently than usual. Taking into account the technological aspect of this feature, the interview was conducted with the help of Skype. All three actors were on camera while I was on my phone, in the comfort of my own home. While the personal touch from actually being in the room is generally more satisfying, it was an interesting – albeit challenging – way to carry on an interview. However, on top of giving such fine performances, Dane, Alex and Michael were especially cool guys. They chat about taking on the serious side of these characters and how far we have come – positive and negative – in a technology obsessed, modern world.
CHRONICLE opens this Friday at a theatre near you.
