Sony Pictures Animation is setting up a sequel to the surprisingly fun CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS, and have chosen two of the artists who worked on the original film to direct. Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn will make this their directorial debut.
The original book has a sequel called “Pickles to Pittsburgh” which was published in 2000, so there’s already material for them to work with. The original film’s writer/director duo, Chris Miller and Phil Lord, will executive produce. Since their success they’ve moved on to live action comedies, with 21 JUMP STREET in the works.
Note that CLOUDY 2 hasn’t been greenlit just yet- but considering how big of a hit the first film was ($243 million worldwide) we’ll likely see this happen sooner than later.
