So this is actually happening, huh?

1000 A.E., Will Smith’s planned team up with writer/director M. Night Shyamalan is moving forward as Smith has found two female co-stars in Zoe Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo. The two women will play Smith’s daughter and wife, respectively, with Jaden Smith set to star as his son.

The film will follow futuristic events that have left Earth uninhabitable. Will Smith will play a leader and a hero of the futuristic society who must return to our planet with his ne’er-do-well son. Once landing, events take a turn and the son is responsible for saving his father.

It’s unclear if anyone involved in the film has actually watched THE LAST AIRBENDER.

In addition to Shyamalan, writers Gary Whitta and Stephen Gaghan have also penned drafts of the script. Sony Pictures is looking to begin filming next year for a planned June, 2013 release date.

Before I go, let me just remind you, Will Smith turned down Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED to instead star in this film for M. Night Shyamalan. That is all.
