Yeah, I had to mention the theme. That’s the first thing that pops in my head when HONY KONG PHOOEY is brought up. I never watched it much myself, but my mom loved it.
Now it’s being brought to the big screen as a live action/animated adaptation. Eddie Murphy will voice the classic kung-fu fighting dog. Here’s some details on the story: “Penry (Murphy) stumbles into a mystic ceremony and is accidentally granted mystic powers, including the ability to walk, talk, and do kung fu. Under the tutelage of his kung fu master, Penry dons a costume and becomes Hong Kong Phooey, and with the help of his trusting sidekick Spot the cat cleans up a rogues gallery of wacky criminals.”
Alex Zamm (TOOTH FAIRY 2) will be the one to helm the film.
