Tom Cruise delivers the action in the trailer for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Director Brad Bird was a warlock with the action in THE INCREDIBLES, but we’ve been wondering how that sorcery would translate to living humans (and whatever state Tom Cruise has ascended to).

Looking at the first trailer for MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL, there doesn’t seem to be much cause for concern. Cruise is in full stuntman mode for the excessive espionage, and he’s got a supporting cast that includes Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Tom Wilkinson and Josh Holloway.

The breakdown: “This is not just another mission. The IMF is shut down when it’s implicated in a global terrorist bombing plot. Ghost Protocol is initiated and Ethan Hunt and his rogue new team must go undercover to clear their organization’s name. No help, no contact, off the grid. You have never seen a mission grittier and more intense than this. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL is in theatres and IMAX December 2011.”
