Jesse Eisenberg and Jake Gyllenhaal to star in magician-themed heist pic?

JoBloJoBlo

After a tough time filming the FX-heavy films INCREDIBLE HULK and CLASH OF THE TITANS back-to-back, director Louis Leterrier is slowing things down for his next film, NOW YOU SEE ME. The film is about a group of magicians who perform bank heists during their shows and how has two actors set to play the illusionists. Jesse Eisenberg and Jake Gyllenhaal are set to star in the film with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Olivia Wilde and Melanie Laurent also in talks to join the film.

I’m not exactly sure how the magicians pull off bank heists in the middle of a magic show but I guess that’s for them to figure out and not me. (Just the idea of Olivia Wilde as a sexy magician’s assistant is enough to get me interested.)

Summit had originally been looking at older stars for the film including Sacha Baron Cohen, Jim Carrey, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant but decided to skew the film younger because that’s just what Hollywood likes to do. Both Eisenberg and Gyllenhaal are working out their schedules to make the film but the former is especially busy with a starring role in Noah Baumbach’s WHILE WE’RE YOUNG, Woody Allen’s next film and a Broadway stint this fall in “Asuncion.”

Besides Leterrier, NOW YOU SEE ME is developed by a bunch of guys you might be familiar with including producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (STAR TREK, TRANSFORMERS) and writer Boaz Yakin (who once directed REMEMBER THE TITANS and recently wrote PRINCE OF PERSIA).
