Cool Videos: Live action Ambiguously Gay Duo

As has been par for the course this season, this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” was a mixed bag. Host Ed Helms was barely there and most of the sketches limped along. But there was one stand-out.

Robert Smigel’s “Ambiguously Gay Duo” returned for the first time since 2007 and in an inspired take, leapt into the realm of live-action. After a brief animated first act, the cartoon characters are zapped into the real world where Ace and Gary are portrayed by Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon. Even the voices behind the cartoon characters, Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert, showed up to play the film’s villains. (Also interesting to note that it reunited former “Daily Show” correspondents Carell, Colbert and Helms.)
