Happy, happy, joy, joy!
Two weeks ago, I was doing a marathon of THE ADVENTURES OF PETE & PETE. Like most people my age who we’re growing up in the 90’s, I miss the old Nickelodeon line-up. Before my PETE & PETE re-viewing, I was watching ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?. While I love SPONGEBOB nothing compares to ROCKO’S MODERN LIFE.
For awhile now, some sites that I visit often have been talking about 90’s Nickstalgia. These twenty-somethings (and some close to thirty-somethings) are wondering what happened to the good cartoons and why Nickelodeon doesn’t play more of the shows they used to love. Well guess what my friends…they’re coming back.
TeenNick has decided to put shows like RUGRATS, KENAN AND KEL, PETE & PETE, CLARISSA EXPLAINS IT ALL, and THE AMANDA SHOW back on the line-up. The shows will play between midnight to 2 A.M. and the block will be dubbed, The 90’s are All That. If I didn’t mention one of your favorite 90’s Nick shows, don’t worry. TeenNick hopes to bring more 90’s programming and movies.
Why did they decide to bring back the shows? Keith Dawkins, senior VP and general manager of TeenNick saw what I was seeing– the outpour of fans on the internet. Dawkins said this, “At the time, we were completely devoted to that audience ages 9, 10, and 11. It was ground-breaking and for the young viewers, a powerful and pivotal time in their lives. Those kids who are now 22, 23 and 24 want to bring that back.”
Yay! Thank you TeenNick! Imagine the possibilities: SALUTE YOUR SHORTS, HEY DUDE, LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE, DOUBLE DARE, AAAAAAHHHH! REAL MONSTERS, KABLAM, THE SECRET WORLD OF ALEX MACK…
