UPDATE: Unsurprisingly, in the past two days this popular trailer for the DEAD ISLAND game has set off a Hollywood frenzy to turn it into a movie. Studios are reportedly fighting for the opportunity to make a feature using a similar MEMENTO structure as the trailer (even though the upcoming game does not implement this storytelling device).

February 16, 2011: If you’re an avid gamer and/or a hardcore horror fan, this should have you salivating like a hungry ghoul (regardless of how many hours you’ve already sunk into the DEAD RISING or LEFT 4 DEAD games).

The action/survival videogame DEAD ISLAND finds players stranded at a vacation resort during an outbreak of the flesh-eating undead. The Romero-influenced “sandbox” game has been in the works for a while, but this rather ingenious teaser should have you scrambling to pre-order. Want NOW.
