Twilight star Taylor Lautner is a futuristic prisoner in Incarceron

While agents battle to get their teen talent into THE HUNGER GAMES or other hot “young adult” book adaptations, INCARCERON has locked up one of the biggest young stars to be found.

Deadline says Taylor Lautner is set to star in Fox’s feature version of Catherine Fisher’s bestselling novel, about “a prison so vast that it contains not only cells, but also metal forests, dilapidated cities, and vast wilderness.”

Sharkboy/Wolfkid would play Finn, a prisoner who (per the book blurb) “has no memory of his childhood and is sure that he came from Outside Incarceron. Very few prisoners believe that there is an Outside, however, which makes escape seems impossible.

Finn finds a crystal key that allows him to communicate with a girl named Claudia. She claims to live Outside- she is the daughter of the Warden of Incarceron, and doomed to an arranged marriage. Finn is determined to escape the prison, and Claudia believes she can help him. But they don’t realize that there is more to Incarceron than meets the eye. Escape will take their greatest courage and cost more than they know.”

Sounds like it’s got dashes of CITY OF EMBER with some GREAT ESCAPE and THE BOURNE IDENTITY. Lautner is coincidentally soon making his big leading-man debut in ABDUCTION, described as an action-thriller in the vein of THE BOURNE IDENTITY. Maybe they can also get him to star in the upcoming Damon-free sequel to… THE BOURNE IDENTITY. Who are you really, Taylor Lautner? Are you… the Bourne identity?
