Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are both running for president. At least on the big-screen they will be.
Warner Bros. nabbed up the untitled political comedy that Jay Roach (AUSTIN POWERS, DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS) will be directing. The screenplay comes from Chris Henchy (THE OTHER GUYS) and Shawn Harwell (EASTBOUND & DOWN). Ferrell and Galifianakis are set to star. The project will be produced by Ferrell and Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez Productions banner, Roach through his Everyman Pictures banner, and Galifianakis.
The actors will play rival candidates with the film timed for release during the 2012 elections.
Ferrell has already spent quite some time playing former president George W. Bush. Galifianakis played a president as well, but only in dreams. In VISIONEERS, he starred as George Washington Winsterhammerman, descendant of George Washington. The dreams have him prancing around as our first president, complete with the powdered wig.
