Ray Wise is a little late to the casting party for X-Men: First Class

Remember the days when it seemed like every day we had some sort of casting news for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS?

Well, they weren’t done.

IGN spoke with Ray Wise last night who revealed that he would be appearing in the film. “I’m playing the Secretary of State of the United States. I’ll be going over there in the next couple of weeks,” said Wise. You might remember Wise as Leland the uber-creepy dad to Laura Palmer on TWIN PEAKS.

The actor is excited to work with director Matthew Vaughn on the project, “I love Matthew. And Bryan Singer’s producing it and [it’s got] a great cast – James McAvoy, January Jones, Oliver Platt.” When asked if he would be in any scenes with big special effects, Wise replied, “Well, I think I touch on them, yeah, a bit.”

I actually took some time to read FIRST CLASS. At first I was a little put off by it, but I really wanted to know what it was all about. It’s really not that bad. I enjoyed it. However, I never got the impression that it took place in the 1960’s, unless I was reading completely different like a spin-off or something. All the clothes are modern. The only thing that represented the past was the original suits and line-up. If anyone else has read these, maybe you can clue me in on what the hell I was reading.
