We’ve been hearing about the possibility for a few years, but apparently now is the time for TIMECOP. Again.
According to What’s Playing, a relaunch of the franchise is barreling down the time tube thingy on its way to production at Universal.
The studio clearly thinks there’s more to be mined from the material (even after a short-lived TV show and a direct-to-vid sequel) and believes TIMECOP 2.0 could be a “big-budget science-fiction blockbuster with a major star”.
Director Peter Hyams’ 1994 flick (based on a Dark Horse comic) is probably best known for star Jean-Claude Van Damme’s kitchen combat skills and a vivid demonstration of what happens when two Ron Silvers occupy the same space. But don’t expect the “Muscles from Brussels” back for any more temporal law enforcement.
